Aristodos Vargas, Jairo Alfonso, Jose Ricardo and his father Jose Vicente Villafone
José Ricardo and group recently played to enthusiastic crowds at the 28th annual "Cuna de Acordeones" festival in Villanueva, located in the La Guajira region of northeast Colombia. He and his father (pictured on the right) are from the indigenous group called "Arhuacos." His father Jose Vicente came to the nearby  town of Valledupar years ago to learn spanish and discovered vallenato music. José himself has been playing the accordion a mere 4 years yet has managed to win 28 trophies at various vallenato festivals throughout the country.
